Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I was in a team with seven other interns. Our role was to complete an exploratory software engineering project on behalf of the bank. There was also an individual research project and various learning activities.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, the project is something which the bank is considering implementing in the future and our role was to determine its feasibility.

Yes - I have developed my Python and machine-learning skills and learnt how to use Copilot Studios to build agents, and a bit of Javascript and HTML.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Quite a lot - the team has a scrum master who checks in with us every day, and a manager whom we meet individually once a week. The project leader also provides guidance.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
In general the atmosphere is very good, upbeat and inclusive. Some of the other interns were not great to be around. The company culture is positive, supportive, and focussed on achievement.

What advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group
Prepare for the virtual assessment centre as much as you can: make sure you understand the prerelease material and practice discussing it. Don't worry if you don't have a computer science background as long as you can code, loads of people are in the same position.
