Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I currently am on a placement within the Individual Giving team. I have been given the project of looking into In Memory income and mapping out supporter journeys with the aim to spot pain points and areas where Cancer Research UK could improve. Therefore my day to day role involves having regular meetings with stakeholders and working with them to accurately map those processes and then presenting my findings back to wider groups and workstreams.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I have been given so much responsibility which was really refreshing and exciting as I expected to not have as much as I have at all. I feel like I have a real presence in the team.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I am receiving a lot of support. I have weekly one to ones with my placement manager as well as having monthly check ins with my line manager. I also have bi-weekly catch ups with several other members of the team so there are plenty of people to support you.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

When I first started and due to how big Cancer Research UK is, I was expecting a typical corporate atmosphere but I have been pleasantly surprised. There is such a network here and everyone has your best interests at heart. The staff networks are also such a good initiative to boost company culture. I am apart of the Gender Equality one.
