Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Undertook a range of tasks, from legal research to drafting documents and delivering presentations. Gained a real insight into the work of 2 different practice areas (Employment and IPT).

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Our 2 day induction provided a detailed and inspiring overview of the business, the different practice areas, how it operates, its global reach and its future strategy, with talks from various employees across the firm (including senior/executive level).

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
As a non-law career changer, this experience has taught me a wealth of new legal skills. I had never drafted a legal memo before or conducted legal research, and now had the opportunity to learn these skills. It was also a chance to develop existing professional skills, such as presenting, communication and organisation.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
DLA Piper is known for having a welcoming, supportive and down-to-earth culture, and this experience only confirmed it. Everyone I worked with was always so friendly and available, always willing to answer any questions I had or go for a coffee, including at partner level. I really felt I could just be myself.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend the firm to anyone interested in applying to law vacation schemes, who is keen to get stuck in from day one, learn new skills and meet bright, kind people along the way. The vacation scheme not only met my expectations, but exceeded them.
