Summer Intern Review

Over this 3.5 week internship, I had an induction in the London office and I have sat in two work placements. I am interning currently in Real Estate (Property Litigation) and this involves assisting fee-earners with research, learning about the day-to-day work that they do and conducting trainee-level tasks, based on previous work (including drafting client correspondence). I have also had the opportunity to work on pro-bono projects. My previous placement was in Litigation. During this placement, I attended court, filled in pre-court forms, carried out research, drafted research notes and drafted client emails.

As an intern I have been given lots of responsibility. For example: I have been given responsibility to manage my workload, to organise my group presentation, to network with interns and fee earners and to volunteer for pro-bono opportunities.

I have developed my professional tone, email writing skills, drafting skills, my confidence, my office etiquette, my research skills, my technological skills, my critical thinking and my overall employability.

Both of my supervisors and intern buddies, provided me with lots of support whether that be in the tasks that I was set, or in terms of my wider professional development. All the fee earners, the Early Careers Team and my intern cohort were very supportive of my overall internship experience.

The company's culture and general atmosphere was positive, supportive and collaborative. Senior fee earners would happily give up their time, to answer any of my questions. The atmosphere and culture was also one of excellence, during my time on the internship, I feel as though I was encouraged to complete high quality work, and the atmosphere supported me to do so.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on my internship and I would recommend to law and non-law students/ graduates and career changers to apply for next year's internship. I found coming to the office every day, very enjoyable, rewarding and beneficial to my career development. Our Early Careers Team hosted fun socials, a great induction and within the office there was a very fun atmosphere combined with interesting high-quality work.
