Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role involved being responsible for the Advisory wide sales leads, involving the management of mailboxes and logging opportunities in our databases. As well as, creating tailored proposals for each client and taking them through our bespoke services on Team's meetings. Organisation, confidence and communication were all fundamental to successfully building an autonomous pipeline !

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was given signification responsibility in my role. Leading client calls and independently managing opportunities. With the support and guidance of the team, I was encouraged to build personal growth in becoming an independent sales person and an expert in our service lines.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

The support and guidance was excellent, from the day I stepped into the role, I have always had the assistance of the team. My Sales team were determined to nurture my development, this has influenced a level of confidence and belief in myself, enabling me to excel throughout my placement. Additionally, the flexibility of my team to adapt with my abilities as I progress has consequently supported me to continuously develop my skills in a wide range of areas.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

It was good, I think due to a lot of changes in our team and transformation across Hays, it has been hard at time to build a strong positive ethos in our Advisory division. In addition, the uncertainty has definitely led the team to feel less motivated at time. However, the great personalities and people within our team has always made me feel welcome and excited to come into work !

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have thoroughly enjoyed this placement, the great opportunities to excel both personally and professionally has been incredible. I have seen the biggest transformation in myself this year, From day 1 to my last, every day the continuous drive and belief that has been reinforced after mistakes or setbacks has encouraged me to take risks and build a purpose, I am determined to continue both in university and beyond.

Put yourself out there and be authentic. This is a real opportunity to discover where you want to steer towards in your career path. The opportunities at hand within Hays are so unique and I firmly believe you will not get the same autonomy in your position anywhere else.
