MATLAB / Python focused, taking field test data and analyzing it / running it through various scripts.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes - a large number of projects were for various departments including the US.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Learnt SQL, DAX, PowerBI, Databricks, AI usage and developed existing python/MATLAB skills. Developed engineering skills that were new to me as a maths student.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Biweekly meetings with manager. Wider team were lovely and I could ask them whenever needed.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

No indication that it was not inclusive - social opportunities were largely directly through colleagues rather than through the company itself. Given as much time as we like per year to do volunteering through the company (EEEC initiative).

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

Was brilliant and a good introduction to data analytics. Any complaints would register as a general complaint of working rather than the placement itself.

What advice would you give to others applying to Cummins

Difficult to give specific advice in this instance as I had a short interview process, much shorter than others I know, I suppose making sure you have read up on the company as standard advice.
