Placement Student - Engineering Review

My Placement is a rotational placement within Platform Engineering, Test Engineering, and Mechatronics Department. Day to day responsibilities included conducting competitor benchmarking studies, analysing test cell capabilities, planning and executing tests, collecting and interpreting data, and preparing technical reports and presentations.

I independently managed several benchmarking and testing activities, including actuator benchmarking projects and test cell capability analyses, but doesn't mean I was left alone with these projects, my manager and team was always there to look after and support.

I developed many interpersonal professional skills along with many technical skills, including key skills like 7 step Problem Solving, Problem Investigation skill, System capability analysis, graphical representation of data, and use of many essential engineering software.

Placements had great support during placement. Regular one to one meetings with manager for guidance and feedback, Placement roundtables offered additional support. each student was also assigned a placement buddy who was available to help with any questions

The company culture was very supportive, inclusive, and collaborative. There were also opportunities to get involved in EEEC volunteering activities, which encouraged employees to contribute to the wider community

A good break from uni. the experience was both rewarding and enjoyable, offering valuable industry exposure and specially the rational element of this placement helped gain a clearer understanding of potential career paths.
