Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Cummins?

I had a really positive experience on the Cummins graduate scheme. The company genuinely lives its core values, there’s a strong focus on doing the right thing (integrity) and supporting each other.
Everyone is approachable and inclusive, which makes it easy to get involved and share ideas. There’s also a clear focus on development, and I’ve felt well supported with opportunities to learn and take on real responsibility early on. The teamwork is great, and you’re encouraged to work across different areas, which has helped me build confidence and experience quickly. Overall, it’s been a great place to start my career and I am still there, post my graduate scheme.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

During my graduate role, my responsibilities included:
Driving continuous improvement across teams by identifying gaps, refining processes, and supporting cross-training and collaboration
Supporting project delivery through planning, scheduling, progress tracking, and escalation of risks and delays
Maintaining accurate data and reporting to monitor performance and key actions
Leading and supporting implementation strategies to ensuring approval, execution, and continuous process optimisation
Working to defined implementation timelines, ensuring timely delivery of agreed technical solutions
During my graduate role, the key element I enjoyed the most was getting to speak to so many different people from a big span of areas in the business. I learnt so much!

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

Overall, I feel my compensation package fairly reflected my role and responsibilities as a graduate. The salary is competitive for an entry-level position, and the additional benefits such as development opportunities, training, and flexible working add real value alongside financial compensation.

I feel the role is preparing me really well for my future career. I’ve gained hands-on experience, taken on real responsibility, and developed both technical and project management skills that will be valuable long-term.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

The role matched my expectations reasonably well. The recruitment process covered several potential roles, with final placements allocated afterwards, so there were some differences from what I initially expected. However, the experience has still been positive, and I’ve had good opportunities to learn and develop.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Cummins?

y advice would be to get involved as much as possible from the start and make the most of every opportunity. Taking the time to network and build relationships across teams really helps you settle in and open up further opportunities. Being proactive, asking questions, and showing a willingness to contribute will help you get the best out of the experience.
