Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

At placement student level, my role consisted of managing and monitory small scale IT projects, from infrastructure projects to software projects. This consisted of holding and leading meetings with external and internal stakeholders, creating and monitoring project plans and budgets, as well as dealing with any issues or risks using proper risk mitigation strategies. I also had various admin related responsibilities outside of this.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given up to 4 IT projects during my placement. I believe this is more responsibility than was typically given to students, as I welcomed the challenged and ran the projects to a decent standard.

I received substantial guidance and mentorship throughout my placement. My manager was available at all times to assist me with any challenges, and also drove my professional development through providing me training and experience-rich opportunities within the business.

Focus on Cummins values, and how you might have portrayed said values in your past jobs/educational life. Cummins are open to developing hard-skills and therefore focus on personality and soft-skills are these are often harder to mould.
