Trainee Solicitor Interview Review

The insight day started with the Early Careers team giving us an overview of what to expect throughout the day. We then had the chance to meet someone from one of the teams we could potentially join as trainees. Each person spoke about what their team does and shared some insight into the firm's culture.
We were also put into pairs and assigned interview slots. Depending on when your interview was scheduled, you might miss one of the team sessions. However, this wasn't a problem because there was a networking event during the lunch break. This gave us the opportunity to speak with people from different teams and ask any questions we still had.

It was very insightful. The firm's website is very comprehensive, but reading about the different teams is completely different from hearing directly from people with day-to-day experience. They explained how each team works, how they interact with other teams, the type of work trainees are expected to do, and the billing expectations.
The atmosphere was very relaxed, and questions were welcomed and answered honestly. It felt like a great opportunity to gain a better understanding of both the work and the culture of the firm.

The insight day greatly improved my networking and interviewing skills. I now feel more confident during interviews and networking events.

The firm's culture is incredibly welcoming and supportive. Throughout the process, the Early Careers team was there to guide us every step of the way, speaking enthusiastically not only about the application journey but also about our personal and professional growth. Everyone we met was open and genuine when sharing their experiences of the firm and its culture. They made a real effort to ensure that everyone felt included, valued, and comfortable contributing their thoughts. Overall, the firm has a warm, collaborative, and inclusive atmosphere.

I enjoyed it quite a lot especially being able to converse with the other potential trainees.
