Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
During my internship, my primary responsibility was to act as a Data Visualisation Developer, focused on turning complex internal data into clear, actionable insights for a wide range of stakeholders across the business. This involved designing, building, and maintaining Power BI dashboards that supported both strategic decision-making and day-to-day operational needs.
I worked closely with stakeholders and data owners to understand their objectives, the behaviours they wanted to drive, and the limitations of the underlying data. A key part of my role was translating these requirements into effective visual storytelling, ensuring dashboards were intuitive, usable, and aligned to Softcat’s branding and accessibility standards.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I found the workplace culture at Softcat absolutely outstanding. The business wide commitment to driving passion, fun, and community across the company was incredibly refreshing and made my experience so enjoyable. The social calendar and Softcat is never-ending and there is always a chance to get involved with something fun and meet new people.

What advice would you give to others applying to Softcat
In terms of applying to Softcat specifically, my main advice to people would be to be yourself! I know that sounds incredibly cliché, but Softcat places an enormous importance on its culture and wants to uplift individuality. Think of the interview as a screening process to see whether you will be able to positively contribute to Softcat's treasured culture and add value and welcomeness to the office environment.
