Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role consisted of digital marketing, creating digital assets for our business line - Cummins Meritor Aftermarket CDBS Commercial Vehicles, promoting our products. Following digital assets, I was in charge of stand design for trade shows we would be attending, campaign development, product launches etc.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a lot of responsibility throughout my placement, with most of my tasks being independent, run on my own accord.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

New skills fluctuate from software development, event organisation, requisition and supplier set ups etc.
Existing skills I have adapted have been my excel, AI adaption, digital asset creation, communication and presentation skills.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

During my placement, I received perfect support and guidance from my manager with understanding the required software's, through to corporate legal confirmation for our digital asset creations. The support was well split, where I gained the confidence early on to master all fundamentals.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and cooperative, where conversation between the staff feels comfortable. Lots of opportunities through our volunteering initiatives, with great company culture, meeting the teams and involving in volunteering activities.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

Overall, this has been an incredible experience, with the expectation of improving my uni module top skills, I did not expect to come out with an enhanced experience in these sectors, but further skills which are imperative in this marketing environment. I will come out of this placement with skills in sectors I did not expect to learn, with a variety of different skills both digital and real-world.

What advice would you give to others applying to Cummins

The same advice I would give to anyone who is applying for companies in general, ensure your CV is well tailored to the company role, ensure you are organised with the interview stage you are in. Ensure you inform the interviewees on what you expect to gain out of this experience. Put research into the company, and prepare with questions on the specific sector or areas you feel the company can adapt, when looking at their page/products/information etc.
