Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I am an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor and have been assigned two 'mentors' who have been amazing and have guided and trained me throughout my role since I joined in September. This has been great as I have been given an amazing insight into what my role will look like as I continue to progress. They have helped me learn the basics and I have gradually been given more responsibility as I gain confidence. I do procurement, tender analysis, drawing distribution, payments, valuation etc.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
My Apprenticeship has been made extremely enjoyable as I have am constantly being trained, learning new things and am given new tasks. I am given the tools to be independent, helping me develop my confidence and knowledge in my job role and I am provided with amazing support to do so with my team.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I feel like I have developed so much as an individual since I joined Bellway. One of the biggest developments would be my confidence. This has really increased as I have been submerged into many different situations where I am constantly meeting new people, visiting new places and trying new things. I love learning new things and the majority of things that my role entails has been a completely new learning experience for me, however, I don't feel overwhelmed at all and have been given the time to get comfortable with each new task before moving onto another.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
As a degree apprentice, I have a day release every week where I attend online lessons and I attend the university in person 3/4 times a year. This aspect of my apprenticeship is very well structured. While I am in the office I constantly have work to do and am always learning something new. It is also very well structured and organised.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
I receive a lot of support, I constantly have training sessions held by our head office over teams and even get the chance to go to our head office to receive more training. We have a dedicated apprenticeship team and I am able to go to them if I'm ever unsure about anything or need help.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I receive a lot of support as I am able to email or contact any of my tutors whenever I am unsure about anything and they are very helpful during lectures in person and over teams as they are constantly checking whether everyone understands or has any questions.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
I have learnt a lot through university and am really starting to understand the theory behind my role, not just what is going on in the moment. It has given me the background information to help me understand why each task I do is vital and why we take certain precautions.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
I have been assigned as a Charity Coordinator for my division which I love because I have been given the responsibility to make a real contribution to my division. So far we have organised a pizza social activity to encourage everyone to gather in the kitchen over lunch to get to know each other and have done a quiz to also raise money for our charity and help departments network with each other. There are also upcoming events and I am excited to be involved with them all.
