Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
Investment Banking and Capital markets apprenticeship - the apprenticeship involves 4 year long rotations including teams ECM, DCM, coverage and corporate broking and I work alongside analysts and other juniors on the teams

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
Great programme where I feel supported and am working to an appropriately challenging standard that will set me up for future roles

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Core investment banking skills as well as development of existing personal skills, and various professional and regulatory qualifications

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5
The company do a great job at supporting us going to university and achieving our qualifications, and the rotational programme is excellent to allow us to try a number of different teams. However, the organisation on the university side is not so good and communication of timings, dates and assignments has been notably poor at times throughout

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
Great at allowing us the time we need to learn and develop

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

2/5
Whilst content itself is taught at a good level, the university and its' programme managers are generally not very good at communicating dates or assignment deadlines in advance which can make it difficult to organise our time. We often find ourselves being chased last minute regarding deadlines we were unaware of with other apprentices and managers copied in.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

3/5
Most learning is done in the workplace, but there are elements of the qualification that are helpful

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
Yes, and we have been encouraged to get involved

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Deutsche Bank to a friend?

Yes

Why?

The programme is great and really focuses around our own development, rather than solely feeling like you are working for the benefit of the employer. The support and flexibility has been great throughout which in turn makes me feel prepared to work to a high standard

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deutsche Bank?

Go for it, remember this is a demanding and difficult industry to work in, but DB is a great place to start and will help you learn and grow
