Very positive. Good work responsibilities, good work life balance and good annual leave
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
As a reliability engineer at Sellafield you are responsible for ensuring that plant systems and equipment operate safely and reliably within a nuclear environment. The role involves analysing equipment performance, investigating failures using methods like root cause analysis, and developing effective maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and risk. Engineers also monitor asset condition, manage ageing infrastructure, and use data to improve system performance over time. A key part of the job is working closely with operations, maintenance, and safety teams while ensuring all activities meet strict nuclear regulatory standards, with safety always being the top priority over production.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

If you show you are capable from the get go you can be given many opportunities and some managers may have the approach of sink or swim which i took on very well as it forces you to become competent quite quickly.

Lots of the the senior leadership team have done the graduate scheme in the past so that is very encouraging for my own future career.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

I feel like I was learning some of the skills informally on the job before formal training was initiated. Personally I feel there is too much emphasis on lengthy soft skills course rather than learning important skills/software that you would be using in your day job

Good pay, good work opportunities, can easily make a career here if you want, great location if you like the outdoors

The description of the role and the responsibilities wasn't that clear when i applied but that wasnt a massive concern
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Sellafield Ltd?
Ensure you know how remote West Cumbria is before moving as there a lot of grads who move up here as Sellafield pays well but they don't think about what it would be like to live here and then don't enjoy being up here.
