Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I work as a Conversational Banking Demand Consultant within CR COO Planning & Productivity, responsible for planning and forecasting customer contact demand across messaging channels. My role focuses on building robust short‑ and medium‑term outlooks, identifying coverage and skill risks, and translating data into clear operational actions to support service delivery and financial control. I lead and contribute to regular planning forums, including What If sessions, where I provide insight on volumes, handling time, schedule efficiency and overtime requirements, ensuring stakeholders have a clear and realistic view of demand pressures. Alongside BAU planning, I complete and embed impact assessments for business change, support supplier and operational decision‑making, and drive improvements through automation, data integration and the practical application of emerging technologies such as Copilot. My work enables informed planning decisions, supports customer outcomes, and continuously improves the effectiveness and efficiency of the messaging operation.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I have genuinely enjoyed completing my degree and apprenticeship programme, as it has given me the opportunity to deepen my understanding of both academic theory and its practical application within my role. The programme has strengthened my critical thinking, analytical and research skills, allowing me to approach my work in a more structured and evidence‑based way. I’ve particularly valued being able to apply learning directly to real business challenges, which has made the coursework feel relevant and meaningful rather than theoretical. Balancing study alongside a demanding role has been challenging at times, but it has been highly rewarding and has increased my confidence, capability, and motivation to continue developing myself professionally.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Through my degree and apprenticeship, I have developed a range of new skills and strengthened existing ones that I use directly in my role. I have improved my critical thinking and analytical capability, particularly through applying structured approaches to problem‑solving, data analysis and impact assessment. My research skills have developed significantly, including qualitative analysis, evidence‑based decision‑making and articulating clear assumptions and conclusions. I have also strengthened my communication and storytelling skills, enabling me to present complex information more confidently and clearly to different stakeholders. Alongside this, balancing academic study with a demanding role has enhanced my time management, self‑discipline and resilience, allowing me to work more effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

3/5
There have been times on the programme where I have not had the best tutor support, which made some modules more challenging than they needed to be. When this has happened, the lack of clear guidance or consistency in expectations meant I had to rely more heavily on my own organisation, resilience and independent learning skills to progress. While this was challenging, it did help me become more self‑sufficient and proactive in seeking clarity through alternative resources, peer support and programme materials. Overall, the programme itself is well structured, with clear assessment requirements and learning outcomes, but the experience has shown me how important consistent tutor engagement and communication are in supporting learning effectively.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
Always had great supprt

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

4/5
I receive a reasonable level of support from my training provider while working towards my qualification, particularly through access to programme materials, scheduled workshops and key milestone guidance. In many cases, the wider resources available (such as online content, assessment guidance and recorded sessions) have been helpful in keeping me on track. However, the level and quality of support has sometimes depended on the tutor assigned, with some providing clearer direction and engagement than others. Where support has been lighter, I have adapted by being more proactive, using independent study, peer support and programme resources to ensure I continue to progress and meet requirements.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
While the qualification has helped me develop valuable skills such as critical thinking, analysis and reflective practice, some elements of the course content were not always closely aligned to my day‑to‑day role, which made it more difficult to apply the learning directly in practice. In particular, broader or more generic modules did not always reflect the operational, data‑driven nature of my work, meaning I had to work harder to translate theory into practical value. That said, where content was relevant, I was able to apply it effectively to real business challenges, strengthening my approach to decision‑making and problem‑solving. Overall, the qualification has helped me perform better in my role, but its impact has been greatest when learning could be clearly linked to real operational scenarios and organisational context.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?

When applying to Lloyds Banking Group, my advice would be to be clear on why the organisation and role genuinely interest you, and to link your experience to real outcomes rather than just responsibilities. The Group values people who are curious, adaptable and willing to learn, so demonstrating how you approach problem‑solving, take ownership and respond to change is important. I would also recommend researching the business area you are applying for and showing an understanding of how the role contributes to customer outcomes and the wider strategy. Finally, being authentic matters – Lloyds Banking Group places a strong emphasis on values and collaboration, so showing who you are, how you work with others and how you continue to develop yourself can make a real difference.
