Within my role, I carry out project management tasks day-to-day to support my delivery team (on placement) and also to word towards my apprenticeship and early talent success criteria.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme has offered me a great balance of real-world application of project management skills within my delivery team and the opportunity to develop knowledge through the apprenticeship qualification.

As this is my first role within the project sector, I have learnt many new skills within project management from theory to practical application. I have also developed on existing leadership and management skills.

Very well structured - Good communication between early talent, external training provider, and delivery team to provide a well structured learning environment.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

Continuous support from the early talent team through touch point meetings and drop in sessions.

The qualification has allowed me to develop knowledge and theory that I use on a daily basis to apply to my role.

Work have provided the opportunity to get involved in all of the above, I have attended many work social activities and professional networking events such as a 2 day graduate and apprentice event which allowed me to network with many like-minded individuals.

This organisation has supported me to learn in a challenging environment through providing a structured programme with many support systems to turn to (early talent, delivery team, training provider). This has enabled me to develop at a fast rate and build confidence in carrying out my qualification and project management responsibilities within my team.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Ministry of Defence - Submarine Delivery Agency?

Ensure you apply your life experience to the application, as there are so many translational skills that will support you to complete a scheme within the Ministry of Defence. You do not need to be a subject matter expert prior to completing a scheme, just need the ability to adapt and apply learned skills in a new environment.
