Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I was supported in my apprentice by being given opportunities to lead large events of over 100 people, create the Rota for the team and assist with ordering and stock count on top of the being shift lead. This gave me hands on experience and confidence in my skills and ensured I had examples to bring to my end point assessments in order to complete my apprenticeship.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
It was great, I had lots of support from my line managers and was given the chance to showcase my abilities as well as learn from them. They encouraged trial and error and gave me the autonomy to make decisions even if they may have been wrong in order to learn the correct way. We always discussed the decision after and they worked with me to see how this could've been better or what they would have done differently. I had monthly catch ups with my apprenticeship trainer and every 3 months they would come to site to see how I was doing. The online workshops helped massively to keep on top of my workload, and gave the opportunity to speak with other people doing the same apprenticeship as me and learn from them as well.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have learnt a lot, from the business side of hospitality to how to communicate with my team efficiently and supportively. My end point assessment included a business proposal which encouraged me to step back from my daily role and think of the bigger picture for the business. I also learnt how important it is to understand the people you work with and to be able to use their skills to your advantage but also to support them to be the best they can be, everyone is different and using different management methods can change a team completely.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
- Monthly catch-up with Apprenticeship trainer
- Monthly catch-up with my line manager
- Continuous support in the workplace
- Given plenty of time to complete coursework as well as being provided with hands on experience
- Every 3 months my Apprenticeship trainer came to site to see how I was doing and catch up with my line manager on my progress.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
More than expected! They were great and provided any and all support I asked for as well as taking the responsibility for checking in with me and booking in meetings to catch up.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
They did mock exams, business proposals and observations with me and gave me constructive feedback after. This was incredibly helpful to ensure I understood the exam process.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
It has definitely helped change my perspective on hospitality and widened my view on how teams can work together. Overall, I learnt huge amount in such a short time but didn't feel overwhelming or stressful. I feel much better equipped in my role now.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
Throughout the Partnership there are many different clubs/societies you can join, including, sailing, poker, art, racing. There are loads... However, at The Odney Club (Partnership Hotel), we have a swimming pool, archery, crocket, a putting green and over 100 acres of land to make use of. The Partnership benefits are amazing and offer a massive variety of entertainment, discounts, clubs, and so much more!
