My role as a senior carer involves planning shifts and allocating tasks to ensure that the day's activities and appointments are followed through to ensure a high quality of life for the people we support so they can be empowered to reach their full potential and strive towards independence.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love my job as it feels very rewarding and you can see in real time the change you are making in people's lives. I love that every day is different and I don't know what is going to happen on a day to day basis so it keeps me on my toes.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have gained a lot of confidence after being senior and worked on my leadership skills after starting the apprenticeship. The content of the course have made me rethink a lot about my approach and the intent behind all of my actions and how to come across more authentically and with knowledge.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I like the way it is broken down in months and separated as one assessment a month. It is really well put together.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My line manager is always checking up on me on my progress and always offering additional support and letting me know that they are there when and if I ever need their help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

While being quite supportive and engaging, I wish my training provider was a bit more strict with following up as I can sometimes lose focus and it does not motivate me to do any work if no one is checking up on me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Through the course, I have definitely gained more confidence in how I carry myself as a senior and have learnt more team tactics to work with my team better. It has helped with the anxiety of running shifts as I feel more at ease to let others do their part as well and that I do not have to take it all on myself.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The company or the house is not the greatest at organising socials for staff and there is no company funded staff outings or dinner either which is a bit dispiriting.

Would you recommend Choice Care Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a good company to build your resume and there are a lot of opportunities for growth and career development. The company incentive is very good and all in all, everyone tries their best to do a good job.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Choice Care Group?
I would say only if you have the passion and are ready to endure long hours BUT it is really a fulfilling job and you will go home everyday wanting to pat yourself on the back.
