Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am in the invoice processing team within accounts payable. On the daily basis i have to map invoices as well as completing my afternoon task of QNQ and exceptions to ensure straight forward and efficient processing of invoices allowing us to pay our vendors on time.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme thoroughly, i think i am still struggling trying to find the balance between having a full time job and trying to revise for my courses but i am managing too

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
One skill i have developed is my communication skills. Working in such a large company which is continuing to grow, i am constantly meeting new people, building new connections. Another skill i have developed, is time management and ensuring i am completing all of my work tasks within my working hours to a high standard.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The apprentice programme at my work is well organised, especially at the first point of joining the company which i think is the most important as it can be very daunting joining a new company in an environment you have never experienced before. We had a full month when joining where we were taught about all the key areas within finance in the business as well as the business history. We also carried out group projects which allowed all early careers to get to know each other and learn.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
In terms of being an apprentice in the work place my employer is very understanding, always willing to help if i am unsure on my work, but very similar to my training provider when it comes to my apprenticeship studies, it is very independent.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I think being an apprentice it is very different from school and i think sometimes people dont realise how different, you are very independent and it really teaches you to be self disciplined when it comes to studying. My training provider is always there if i need them but it is very rare that they will reach out to me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
In my role specifically i haven't found that my qualification has had much relevance to my role. But in other teams which other apprentices are in i know that working in those teams has really allowed them to put the qualification in to real life perspective and link the two.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
At my work, we have a great social life for the early careers as well as the company as a whole. This is so important as there are constantly events organised allowing us to get to know each other and have people to talk to comfortably who are doing the same thing.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend TJX Europe to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The reason why i would recommend working for TJX Europe, is because no matter who you are there is always a place for you. There is so much opportunity within this company to network and constantly learn new things. Work can be a boring place for many people but i find that it is fun and sociable with the social uplifting environment we work in.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TJX Europe?
If applying to TJX Europe the most important thing is to be yourself, when applying for the apprenticeship they understand you may not have a lot of experience, that is why it is important to be honest and tell them why it is you they should pick, what is something unique you can offer !
