In my role as a Business Administration Apprentice within the Post-Completion Team at Sort Legal, I was responsible for supporting the final stages of the conveyancing process after property transactions had completed.
On a day-to-day basis, my tasks included reviewing and processing legal documents, submitting applications such as AP1 forms to HM Land Registry, and ensuring that all client files were accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements. I regularly used systems such as Practice Evolve, InfoTrack, and Outlook to manage files, communicate with clients and lenders, and track progress.
I also handled administrative duties such as archiving completed files, updating records
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed my programme to a great extent, as it has provided me with valuable practical experience alongside my studies. Being able to apply what I’ve learned in a real working environment has helped me develop key skills such as communication, organisation, and attention to detail.
I particularly enjoy the responsibility and insight the role gives me into the conveyancing process, as well as the opportunity to work with professional systems and interact with colleagues and clients.
While there have been some challenging aspects, such as managing workload and learning complex procedures, these have helped me grow in confidence and improve my problem-solving abilities. Overall, the programme has been a positive and beneficial experience for my personal and professional development.

Yes, I have developed a range of new skills and strengthened existing ones throughout my apprenticeship.
I have significantly improved my organisational skills by managing multiple files and ensuring tasks are completed within deadlines. My attention to detail has also developed, particularly when reviewing legal documents and submitting applications, where accuracy is essential.
In addition, I have enhanced my communication skills through regular interaction with clients, colleagues, and third parties via email and internal systems. I have also developed my IT skills by using professional software such as Practice Evolve, InfoTrack, and Outlook on a daily basis.
Furthermore, I have gained a better understanding of compliance, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements within a legal environment, which has improved my ability to work responsibly and professionally.

My programme is well organised and structured overall, with a clear balance between workplace responsibilities and academic learning. The apprenticeship provides a structured framework that allows me to develop both practical skills and theoretical knowledge in a consistent way.
There is good support in place from both my employer and training provider, including regular check-ins and progress reviews to ensure I am meeting my targets. The tasks and responsibilities I am given in the workplace align well with the skills and knowledge required for my course.
At times, balancing work and coursework can be challenging, particularly during busy periods, but this has helped me improve my time management and prioritisation skills.
Overall, the structure of the programme has been effective in supporting my development and helping me progress in my role
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a good level of support from my employer throughout my apprenticeship. My colleagues and supervisors are approachable and willing to help whenever I have questions or need guidance, which has made it easier to settle into the role and build confidence.
I am given clear instructions and regular feedback on my work, which helps me understand areas for improvement and continue developing my skills. There is also ongoing support in terms of training and being shown how to use different systems and processes effectively.
Additionally, my employer supports my apprenticeship by allowing time for coursework and ensuring that my responsibilities align with my learning objectives.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a good level of support from my training provider while working towards my qualification. My tutor is accessible and provides clear guidance on assignments, ensuring I understand what is required to meet the criteria.
There are regular check-ins and progress reviews, which help me stay on track and identify any areas where I may need to improve. I am also given constructive feedback on my work, which supports my development and helps me aim for higher grades.
In addition, learning resources and structured sessions are provided to help me understand the course content and apply it effectively in my role.
Overall, the support from my training provider has been consistent and has helped me build confidence in completing my coursework and progressing through the programme
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that my qualification through my training provider supports my role well, as it provides the underlying knowledge needed to perform my tasks more effectively. This is because the company provides a supportive and professional working environment, where colleagues are approachable and willing to help. Throughout my apprenticeship, I have been given valuable opportunities to learn and develop new skills, particularly within a real legal setting.
The training and guidance provided have helped me build confidence and gain a strong understanding of the conveyancing process. Many apprentices also highlight the supportive culture and learning opportunities as key positives, which makes it a good place to start and grow a career .
Additionally, feedback from apprentices has been very positive overall, with a high percentage saying they would recommend the company to others

I would advise anyone applying to Sort Legal to have a positive attitude and be willing to learn, as the role involves developing new skills and understanding legal processes. Showing strong attention to detail is important, as accuracy is essential when handling legal documents and client information.
It is also beneficial to have good communication skills, as you will be interacting with colleagues, clients, and third parties on a regular basis. Being organised and able to manage your time effectively will help you balance your workload and meet deadlines.
I would also recommend familiarising yourself with the basics of conveyancing and demonstrating an interest in the legal sector, as this can help you stand out during the application process.
