Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I help and learn the various aspects of the construction phase of a job for railway track and civil infrastructures and mostly prepare construction jobs by producing an installation diagram, obtaining permits to dig, storage permits for tools and compose material forecast (list of all the materials we will need on site).
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy it a lot, its the right mixture of physical and remote working along with lots of experienced colleagues taking the time out of their day to teach myself and help me successfully pass my Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've developed skills on how to carry out a Linear and Levelling Survey from start to finish and how to produce Computer Aided Design drawings (CAD) on the applied software we use at TFL.

Very organised. The year is structured and detailed on which specific placements you will be on with TFL's various departments.

Lots, my apprenticeship manager is very supportive and helpful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Intertrain provide me with a lot of support and whenever I have difficulties with a certain task, they will provide extra time in the day to help me better understand the subject.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It helps me better understand the role of a CSM by breaking down the certain aspects of the job and explaining to me, how to achieve the correct outcome in each specific task.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there are many extra curricular activities to do at TFL present on social emails and notice boards located throughout the office.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?
Be patient with the hiring process, there are a lot of phases of the interview process but when you get the job it really pays off because TFL is a great employer and all personnel at TFL are really kind and supportive.
