Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My day-to-day involved consulting town and transport plans from councils in and around London, QGIS map creation and data analysis, and some general research.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It was very high-pace which I enjoyed and I got to try my hand at lots of different kinds of work. However there were times where I felt I had little to do

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have greatly improved my communication, mapping, data analysis, consultation, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Clear 6-month placements in different departments with blocks of college learning mixed in. Thoughtfully split up and plenty of notice on changes.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive lots of support from both my placement and line managers. There are also many support groups in the company I can go to. I also receive counselling provided by TfL.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My lecturers are always available for me to contact with questions. They also provide clear instructions and information as to what assignments will entail and what we need to do to pass them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
N/A as i have not yet received the qualification.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Many extra-curriculars, including socials, apprentice meet-ups, sports teams, and work-related conferences.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Transport for London to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a great place to work. Interesting and meaningful work, friendly people, many different departments to try your hand in, fair pay, and great staff benefits.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?
Don't worry too much about prior knowledge or experience (especially if you're applying for an apprenticeship.) Interviewers at TfL will look out for people who are personable, passionate and themselves. Think of marketing yourself as someone people will want to be around / work with and show your passion for whatever scheme you are applying for. I applied for my scheme with absolutely no prior experience with transport, other than a keen interest and was selected because I connected with the interviewers on a personal level and gave a good first impression, don't let a lack of experience scare you out of applying!
