Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Troubleshooting,
Completing tickets via Jira,
Installing components,
Installing software and troubleshooting,
Updating Firmware,
Onboarding/Offboarding staff,
Fixing hardware,
Helping students/staff with their devices,
Study when I have free time and complete exams, and
Going to different rooms all over the campus and troubleshooting desktops, projectors and monitors.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Having fun so far, definitely much better than working in hospitality and logistics, as a career changer, this has been one of the best decisions I've made!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I was self-taught for most of my life, so coming into GBS helped me refine those skills, develop and create a solid foundation, which has greatly improved my IT skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It's quite early as it's still the first month I've officially completed, but so far so good, my seniors are happy to help with any questions I have, happy to teach me new things, and my apprenticeship team are constantly in contact with me to make sure everything is running smoothly.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

Any questions or help I need are always addressed. GBS makes me feel heard compared to previous employment, so it's definitely refreshing.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Again, it's still early days; however, I should mention that my course is self-learning orientated, which I actually like, but my training provider does make sure I have all the resources and tools needed.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As someone who has switched careers, it's been difficult to find a full-time entry-level position due to my experience (I completed a bootcamp before this position), so this apprenticeship is a perfect way for me to gain the experience I need to obtain an entry-level position.
