The work is good as it is very varied so you never get bored.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a lot while training to become a dental nurse, such as how to care for patients well and help them deal with their anxiety effectively. For example if they are nervous I'll is ask them what music they like and put it on it the background to help distract them. I've also learnt all about dental anatomy, why different instruments, materials and equipment are used, and what each dental treatment involves.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Tempdent has a very well structured program, every other week there is a workshop to discuss the current module with peers and go through a workbook to further our learning. There is also a lot of e-Learning and with little quizzes throughout that help to highlight which areas need improvement.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There is a lot of support from my employer, I know if I have any questions I can ask anyone here and they will help. The lead nurse has also done pop quiz sessions throughout my apprenticeship to help with our learning and I've found those really useful as anything I've gotten wrong she's explained in detail.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There is always help available and any questions I have are answered quickly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

There has been a lot of advice and tips given by my training provider to help my perform better in my role. For example using four handed dentistry during treatment so I can retract the soft tissues while suctioning for better visibility.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There aren't any regular extra-curricular activities to get involved in but we did do a group baking competition last year and we there are a few of us going to the dental show in May 2026

Most of the clinicians are very helpful especially when you start training.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Dental Design Studio?
I would advise a new trainee dental nurse to try not get too overwhelmed as there is a lot to learn but it's easy to pick it up, especially as we do it every day, 5 days a week.
