Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Forvis Mazars?

I've really enjoyed my time so far. While it has been challenging working alongside ICAS study, my team provides a supportive learning environment. Everyone across the firm is friendly and approachable.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

Audit of public sector bodies including councils and national parks for example. Analysing and scrutinising evidence provided by the client as well as researching accounting topics are my favourite parts of the role.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

5/5
Having joined a relatively small team that continues to grow, it provides a great platform to see the impact of your work and contribute to discussions etc. I regularly engage with all levels from the most junior members to audit directors, allowing me to learn from the varied experiences of all my colleagues.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

4/5
The initial salary was lower than firms such as the Big 4 but is satisfactory to live in Edinburgh if you can avoid the crazy end of the rental market. Also have access to a health care plan and other benefits.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Forvis Mazars to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Supportive working environment, friendly people, pretty good work-life balance.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

5/5

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Forvis Mazars?

Definitely prioritise effective collaboration at assessment centres, collaboration is key to the success of audits and working as a team in general. This and providing everyone a chance to express their thoughts and opinions was the main difference between assessment centres at Forvis Mazars and the Big 4. I found the Big 4 was like a battleground, everyone fighting for their themselves.
