To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Overall good programme, am in my last year of the degree apprenticeship - expecting to finish very shortly.
BAM have good development programme in place but there are some failings with the Learning Provider at times. i.e lack of communication, lecturers do not provide sufficient support etc.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Time management, improved analysis skills, greater understanding of engineering role, planning, health and safety, quality etc.
Improved confidence and public speaking

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
BAM side of things is generally well organised.
Sometimes the Learning Provider lets us down with poor time management, changes to the learning schedule etc.
The overall programme is clear and well defined with achievement goals well set
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Good support received from BAM.
They regularly run feedback/ drop in session and have clear ways of communicating. If you ever need something, there are multiple ways of getting in touch with the right person.
Very good training and development scheme
They also hold regular meetings with the Learning Provider so our opinions and thoughts are always communicated.
No issues with day-to-day support from the project team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
In recent years, the quality has dropped with new lecturers being introduced that are not familiar with teaching the content.
Most actions from the learning provider seem reactive rather than proactive - they keep repeating the same mistakes, which is frustrating.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Some technical knowledge I have learnt has supported my role and development, however genrally my I have performed better in my role simply through exposure and experience.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
BAM is a sponsor of YPIC professional networking event, they have a social club set up by the company and regularly post content about partaking in Marathons, Walks etc.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
BAM is probably one of the best companies to support the initial learning and development of an apprentice with their well-structured training scheme and programme they have developed for several years.
Since starting with BAM, I have noticed many improvements to how the training scheme is run and organised, and the amount of support systems that have been implemented since.
Learning provider sometimes lets down the overall quality of programe, however, this is probably a typical experience with many Unis.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
Show your passion for the role you are applying for, try to demonstrate any transferable skills, ask lots of questions during interview stages/ assessment centres, and try to gain experience in your preferred role (work experience) if possible.
