Overall, how would you describe your experience at Forvis Mazars?

Overall, my experience at Forvis Mazars has been very positive. I’ve worked in a supportive and collaborative environment where there’s a strong emphasis on learning, development and teamwork. I’ve had exposure to a wide range of interesting work, been trusted with responsibility, and felt well‑supported by colleagues and managers. The culture is professional but approachable, and I’ve valued the opportunities to develop both technically and personally.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

My role involves managing and delivering audit work from planning through to completion, including coordinating audit evidence requests, overseeing testing, and ensuring work is completed to a high standard and in line with audit methodology. I regularly liaise with clients and senior colleagues, contribute to audit planning and risk assessment, and support and mentor junior team members to help them develop both technically and professionally.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

I feel I’m developing my skills well through a combination of formal training and day‑to‑day experience. The role provides strong opportunities to build and strengthen technical knowledge, alongside developing professional skills through increasingly challenging work and responsibility. While there is always scope to continue expanding formal training as the role evolves, the practical, on‑the‑job learning has been particularly valuable in supporting my development.

Overall, the support I’ve received has been excellent. My line manager has been particularly supportive, providing clear direction, regular check‑ins and constructive feedback, while also being approachable and responsive whenever guidance or support was needed. Mentors and senior colleagues have been generous with their time, offering reassurance, technical support and valuable perspective, especially on more complex or unfamiliar areas of work.

How is your work-life balance?

My work‑life balance is mixed. There is flexibility within the role and understanding from managers, which I value, and I’m generally able to manage my workload outside of peak periods. However, during busy times the role can be quite demanding, with longer hours required to meet deadlines. Overall, while the balance is manageable, it can be challenging at times

The responsibilities, level of challenge and opportunities for development were clearly communicated from the outset and have reflected the reality of the role. The culture and team environment were also well represented during recruitment, which helped set realistic expectations and meant the transition into the role felt smooth and well supported.

My main advice would be to be open, genuine and ask questions during the recruitment and onboarding process. Take the opportunity to understand the role, the team and the type of work you’ll be involved in, as the firm is transparent and happy to give insight. During onboarding, engaging proactively with your team, asking for help when needed, and making use of the available resources and networks really helps with settling in quickly and getting the most out of the experience.
