Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I take phone calls that deal with all initial business customer queries. That could be anything from general account queries, lending applications, opening new business accounts, online banking and so much more. My role is customer facing meaning for a lot of customers I am their first point of contact
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

My programme is good, we have a lot of help from our provider which makes you feel supported as an apprentice. The volume of the work is a lot to keep up with but there is always help available for you

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

100%. Dealing wiht customers in a corporate setting is completely different compared to your normal hospitality or retail job. You have to become an expert in your field and understand that things can change in an instant while also managing and adapting to those changes. I have learnt to be faster on my feet while prioritising customer welfare and protecting the bank.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The organisation is good. I think with any large company it is going to be hard to juggle it all though. I think the main thing is the support is out there for you if you need it - that's what really makes a difference
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Loads. NatWest are such a great company to work for in that sense because they actually care about you as an individual which is liberating. Its nice to not feel like a number on a page
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support is good and we know there is also option to reach out for more. They can be a little unorganised at times which can make things a bit confusing is the only kind of negative thing I would say
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel like all that we learn is relevant and you can see how it all ties together. The qualification is in regards to banking in general though so that's one thing that may differ from role to role in terms o the relevant of the course content
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are a lot but I haven't taken any up as of yet

Why?
They are just a great company to work for. All the staff are nice, the management really care about you as an individual and where you wan to go in your career. There's lots of opportunities to grow and network across the bank also
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Start early and keep ahead, as I said its a lot of work to do while committed to a full time role so it can get overwhelming. Staying organised and communicating with your coach are the main things ti keep you on track and avoid burnout
