Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role involves a mixture of day-to-day specific team based jobs and also working on my IT Support Apprenticeship. Typically I attend calls with my team, complete questions on the topics within my apprenticeship and also work within the environment I help to support. In one sentence, I help to maintain an IT infrastructure environment with my team and also dedicate time to completing apprentice based activities like essays, small tests and reports.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my role a lot. The programme is incredibly supportive from both the QA side and the Natwest side. The different activities on a day-to-day basis also keeps things fresh and exciting. The early talent team at Natwest could not be more supportive if they tried, they are always making sure we have a network to seek support however we may need it. QA keeps the course very readable and makes sure the content is both interesting and beneficial.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned many new skills such as efficient usage of AI, Python scripting, BASH scripting and the use of many Virtual Environment management tools such as Vrops and many other VMWare products. I will learn many more skills as I progress through my apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well structured and if I ever have any queries on anything not immediately clear they are answered promptly and well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Natwest are a very supportive employer to work for, the sheer quantity of avenues for support are immense and no matter how you need help, whether it be personal or job related, you will receive it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
QA provide a personal mentor who is able to answer any questions you may have and support you through all your submissions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My role is very specific so whilst the qualification is very well structured and helpful, some of my day-to-day tasks do not relate at all to what I am learning with QA. However, the foundation level skills you learn from the IT support course are great for understanding the fundamentals.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I am actually a member of the Apprentice Connect council where we regularly organise events for apprentices, both social events and also networking events. They're great fun to organise and great fun to be a part of.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The job is very flexible, I work from home 4 days a week and go into Gogarburn 1 day a week. I'm learning countless new skills through both Natwest and QA. My colleagues are supportive and always happy to help with any queries I may have. The benefits are also worthwhile and help to boost the already great morale at Natwest.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Be yourself, I found through the interview process for this apprenticeship that Natwest are very keen to know what you are like as an individual. Make sure you read into the course you are applying for as some can be quite similar yet different end goals. Go for everything you can within the role, join the ambassador programme, apply for the councils and really just immerse yourself in everything you can, it's not only fantastic for your career, but also great fun!
