Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I'm a Business Controls Partner, supporting the Bank's Risk & Control environment.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
The programme was at too low of a level for me. I didn't take too much in terms of learning from the programme, but rather demonstrating my own knowledge.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
It's demonstrated by ability to manage my own time meeting timebound deliveries for the apprenticeship whilst maintaining my own workload for my role. The only new thing I learned was around my own firms approach to banking sustainably and the role we play in ESG when we covered 'Green Finance' as part of one of the Modules.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It's perfectly well organised and structured.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
They allowed me to bake in time for apprenticeship work and never asked me to prioritise my existing workload.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
They have also been great, always on hand to answer questions and the regular reviews were really helpful in breaking down the apprenticeship into chunks, setting goals/actions etc.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I can't say it's added any noticeable benefit to my performance.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, we have a number of clubs and societies, but there's nothing formal or structured I take part in. I enjoy socialising with colleagues after a day in the office, but that's about it.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I've spent 20 years here and moved across a number of roles, so there's plenty of opportunities to build your career. The work life balance is brilliant, I am remote first so it works perfectly for me and my family.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Always look to stand out, be ambitious and seek work outside of your day to day role. Once you start getting involved with extra curricular activities and showcase it, you will soon be looked upon as a high performer and can progress quickly.
