Assisting audits of middle market companies. Involves planning, completing fieldwork & completion of audits. Cross referencing documents, testing balances & having regular meetings regarding progress.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

There is a good mix of learning & working. Very good work/life balance. Friendly & helpful colleagues.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My independence & communication skills have improved greatly. My critical thinking skills have evolved. I have a better understanding of accountancy and how it works.

I am working on audits for most of the year and receive time to study for my qualifications.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer offers extra study leave days to help with studying. We have dedicated people managers who help us if we have any questions that need answering.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

ICAS is my training provider. There are regular workshops for exams that we take, highly qualified tutors who are happy to help when you have any questions.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As the ICAS qualification is an accountancy qualification therefore as we are auditing the financial statements of companies there is a direct link between what we learn at ICAS and the work we do at the job which allows me to greater understand what I am working on.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are regular office and team socials. There are annual events such as the Christmas party & the summer BBQ. There is a running club and also lots of networking events are put on.
