Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
Assisting with the facilitation of projects, this can include visiting sites, attending workshops, running meetings, scheduling and more.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
Very much enjoying so far. Slow to start but that has been helpful. Early careers are a super team and create lots of fun team building for the cohort to bond. The job itself is totally new but very interesting. At the forefront of new tech for National Gas.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Communication, project management, IT software

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

3/5
National Gas are super. University less so. Lecturers are difficult to understand and often work set is not clear. Lots of learning on your own but definitely doable.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
Unwavering support - super flexible, quick to respond.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

3/5
Lecturers are difficult to understand and communication from skills leaders can be very poor. Content is sporadic and can be difficult to follow.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

2/5
I haven't been able to apply anything I have learnt at university to my work yet. Mainly as university is quite unorganised in its training. I learn lots on the job.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

4/5
We have set up an early careers netball team as well as charity fundraisers. We recently did the Wolf Run in Leamington for charity which was super fun.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend National Gas to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Super flexible working, good atmosphere, great pension and other benefits, good pay

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to National Gas?

Be yourself during the interview process. Gas likes independent thinkers who have their own interests and hobbies. They are much more interested in you as a person - don't forget that they can train you professionally but not personally!
