4/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
I am in placements across, planning, estimation and risk, reporting and document control. I attend project meetings and work with colleagues within my placement, assisting them with their day to day roles.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I really enjoy the different placements, and getting to see different areas of project controls. As we are only in placements for a short amount of time, it is hard to fully have ownership of the work that we do as projects are usually ongoing and it can be difficult to feel you add value to the teams.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have learnt how to use a number of programmes including P6, PowerBI and Predict! Risk software. The new opportunities have been invaluable to developing other skills such as stakeholder management and public speaking

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

3/5
The changing business structure has made things slightly difficult as the departments for project controls are now spread across the business. The support is good from the individual teams but more structure and support from management is needed

How much support do you receive from your employer?

4/5
I have been given a number of personal development opportunities and my management are incredible when it comes to my need for flexibility

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

4/5
The training provider provide a lot of support including drop in sessions where we go over assignments and are always contactable when support is needed. We also have bimonthly reviews where targets are made and updated

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
The qualification has been a big help in providing the high level knowledge and skills needed for the role, allowing me to develop the skills I have learnt through my work

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
There are a wide range of extra-curricular activities open to everyone in the business. There are sports teams, volunteering days, lots of networking events and opportunities outside work such as attending conferences and events like Birmingham Pride
