Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
On a day to day basis my role consists of running shifts, running areas and leading the team to good operations with a customer first approach. Currently I am mainly on closes and day shifts, two vital components in the working day.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Different elements of the job make for a good balance of university studies and day to day work on the floor. This is a bonus and adds to the enjoyment, as work can be stressful and highly demanding at times, although I would definately say I enjoy it alot more than I dont.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Joining straight from Sixth Form, I was alien to the world of work, other than a little bit of sports coaching. Therefore everything I have learned since starting in September '24 has been new to me, from basics like chicken batch, to cashing up tills, I have learned alot since I started.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The structure and relationship between work and university is good and I would say one of the strengths of my degree apprenticeship. My uni is very supportive as well is my workplace. There is a good link through my Skills coach who bridges the gap between Uni and work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My Franchise is very good and understanding with the nature of my course, and the complexities of it. Whether it be giving me a day a week off the floor dedicated to uni studies, or easy communication in claiming back expenses, this is another benefit to my workplace.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
MMU have been quality so far. A big step up from Aptem and Lifetime who I completed a level 3 with last year.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The learning element to the broader sector of business is really beneficial to my wider understanding of the business world, not just in my current role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
not really, not directly through work anyway.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
For opportunitues and development it is a good place to be, as if you work hard and are willing to learn and have the skillset required then you can go far with it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
if you are seeking progression opportunities and career stability i would go for it, but you have to be open to fast paced stressful enviroments as if you are not ready for this it may take a toll on you.
