Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Preparation of financial management information and VAT returns. Liaising directly with clients to meet deadlines and prepare accurate work in desired formats. I also have study days at Kaplan centres to work towards my ACCA qualification
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I feel I have been given a good level of responsibility and feel I am being continuously challenged to improve. The burden of exam admin tasks is greatly reduced by the Cooper Parry team which is very helpful

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I had no accounting background prior to the apprenticeship and learn lots on the job and during study days. I also had limited experience in a professional environment and communicating in a professional way which. I have developed this skill greatly through increasing exposure to clients and internal communications within my team.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My entire study plan was mapped out to me as soon as I joined and Kaplan, the tuition provider, have been exceptional in their tuition and guidance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The burden of admin tasks is hugely reduced by the student support team which is very helpful. All managers at Cooper Parry have been really helpful when assisting with work I find challenging and guiding me day to day.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Kaplan are my training provider. They are hugely helpful and the tuition so far has been really good. The small classroom learning is really helpful as you get a good amount of time to ask the tutor questions and study at a really good pace.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The majority of what I cover in my qualification is useful in my day to day works and helps me to understand the job better. Some content I study I do not use in my work although I still appreciate the future benefits it may bring as I aim to become a well rounded accountant.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I get involved in the work football team and there are a large array of other clubs to join if I wanted to.

Why?
The structure and organisations of there apprenticeship schemes is very good and they are always keen to help. You are given a good amount of responsibility quickly which has hugely helped my development.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cooper Parry?
Actively seek to help on more advanced work to help your development. But also, make sure to switch off from work on your study days
