Work alongside a wider project team to deliver Combined Sewer Overflow design solutions, to make sure client owned assets comply with regulatory drivers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoyed my programme, I had all the support I needed from Jacobs, and couldn't have asked for more, I am visibly seeing my growth in knowledge, through how I communicate and convey information, and the level I can now produce work to. However I had some issues with the training provider for my course. There was clear levels in teaching ability between tutors, for the most part the teaching was excellent, one of the good tutors left and a last minute replacement was found. So ended up with 1 good tutor and 2 average, so a lot of self study and research was needed to fill in gaps.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My knowledge and skills have considerably increased since the start of my apprenticeship, so much so that I have achieved a professional qualification with the Institution of Civil Engineers - EngTech. My communication skills have improved, in the way that I talk to others, and the way I can convey information within reports. My CAD skills have also improved, from being able to produce concept design solutions, to now being able to produce drawings to outline and detailed design standards.

At level 3 it seems to be more generic engineering, definitely more useful if your a site engineer. Gained a basic understanding but by bein inquisitive and learning on the job polished off the knowledge.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Jacobs offer a wide range of networks each often hosting monthly events, also within my team we try and have a social every month

Yes
Why?
Jacobs offers flexible working conditions, and supports growth. I have had a lot of time and energy put into me allowing me to develop further than the classroom can take you. Being within such a supportive environment also helped ease the transition from school straight into the world of work. My manager said to me at the start - "Always ask questions as nobody expects you to know everything, and theres a good chance someone else has the same question they're just too scared to ask as they think they should know"
