Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a Linux Apprentice, my role is to support and investigate Linux-based systems while developing my technical and professional skills. I assist with monitoring servers, troubleshooting incidents, reviewing logs, and identifying root causes under the supervision of senior engineers. I also learn about hardware, server design, and infrastructure, contribute to documentation and incident reports, and communicate technical information clearly to both internal teams and customers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

So far I have really enjoyed it, all staff members are very supportive and considerate. I feel like I have been able to progress very fast and also step out of my comfort zone more easily, because how well the team and our managers work to ensure, I feel confident as an apprentice and that my efforts are recognised and rewarded.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have managed to develop my social and communication skills further, through networking with colleagues throughout the company and volunteering to help out at company events.
I have picked up on further technical skills, how to use and recognise the correct technical terminology, the right tools to use and of course, how to apply and understand linux.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think it is well organised, we have our bootcamp every month for three days and, its very fun and engaging, while on the job we are encouraged to shadow colleagues and do training courses, to further our skills and understanding of the role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A lot of support, towards, learning, recognition, mental health and flexibility.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Training providers are very supportive, I feel confident and comfortable to reach out for any sort of support I need. We have regular check in sessions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

yes, we have a gym, women's netball club, football club, pool table, table tennis, networking events throughout the year.

Because it is such a good working environment, everyone is so nice and supportive, and it is amazing to get support to progress further within different areas in the company.

Make use of the support and opportunities you get to progress your career through sitting exams and doing training courses.
