Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I complete analysis of our household underwriting footprint and try and find gaps where we can increase our risk appetite or close off any unwanted/unprofitable risks. I have also handle referrals for fraud and misrepresentation.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoyed my programme, it pushed me outside of my comfort zone and really helped me develop as an employee and an individual. Once completed it help me get a new role higher up in the underwriting world with a lot more responsibilities. AXA were amazing throughout and supported me the whole way through offering support, guidance and mentorship.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My knowledge of underwriting and the insurance market as a whole massively improved during the course. It also gave me a lot of confidence as an individual and helped me obtain a role much higher up in the business. Studying insurance law also really pushed me out of my comfort zone and gained knowledge in an area I didn't have any prior knowledge in, this really helped me in my job role and future career aspirations.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme was very well organised and structured throughout. I had clear time scales and objectives to meet and was set out very clearly from the start so I always knew what i had to do and when for.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

AXA were amazing and supported throughout, they offered continuous guidance, support and mentorship. Everyone was always so keen to help and support and an Apprenticeship Network has been set up within the business to support further apprentices in the future which I am proud to be a part of moving forwards.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

BPP were also very good with support throughout the course. I had bi-monthly catch ups with a dedicated coach who was always available to help and support with any queries I had.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As previously mentioned it helped me move up in the business with all the skills and knowledge I gained throughout. It has helped me understand not only how to do my job to the best of my ability but also the legality and why we do what we do. I believe it has made me a lot better employee and person.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am part of the Apprenticeship Networking group which aims to help and support apprentices within the business whether new or existing. The group is still new and we are constantly looking at ways to improve and move forward. We also have a lot of social events which are very good for networking and getting out as colleagues outside of the work environment.

I believe AXA is a very great place to work and they really prioritise development and are always supportive on helping individuals achieving the best they can
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AXA?
Always be honest about yourself, show that you are a hard working individual who thrives on learning. AXA are very keen on people who want to improve and develop themselves and help to shape the business in anyway possible with bright and innovative ideas.
