Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
Admin tasks, gathering data, excel, project management

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I really enjoy my programme. I think it's a great opportunity for professional development. The only thing that I think could be better was the structure at the start. e.g. the uni needed to be more clear about their side of things.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have developed on skills such as communication, public speaking, confidence, excel and many more. I think joining corporate at a young age gives you the opportunity to do things that you would normally do when going into education only

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

3/5
We had a change of uni compared to previous cohorts. I think that the uni side of things needed to be a lot more clearer. Also we didn't know about CBI exams before we signed up. I think they should've maybe told us that at the start.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

4/5
Good support, again the uni side needs to be more clear. My academic mentor is good but in terms of our actual assignments etc there was a lack of guidance.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

3/5
We didn't know about CBI exams. There was a lack of clarification. We understand what they're like now because we did our first one however prior to it, the delivery was unclear. In addition, the uni side was problematic as they weren't clear on writing styles, essays and what we can expect. The information to set up wasn't the best.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
Good for baseline knowledge, so is applicable. Again, the structure and delivery needed to be better.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

4/5
Yes, I am part of an employee resource group for ethnic diversity early careers. However, it would be nice if my work load wasn't as heavy so I could help out more and attend more events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend HSBC to a friend?

Yes

Why?

I think it's a really good company and their apprentice programme is really good. The only thing I would improve is how the deliver more clarity during the induction.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?

Research the company and know the role your applying for.
