3.8/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
Very hands-on, practical. You gain lots of experience and knowledge. When you're with the right people, you have a blast every day.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
The job can get stressful at times, and staying on top of everything can be difficult. But if it wasn't difficult, everybody would do it. The good is what makes it worth it

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
All of my experience and knowledge with cars has come from Gemini. I started fresh with no knowledge. 11 months in, and I feel much more confident with my skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5
We have a clear structure, it's comfortable and easy to stay on top of if you're focused. Communication is easy and clear

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
My employer and the workers around me are incredibly supportive, I couldn't ask for a better team of people to surround myself with - especially as I'm the only woman in the workshop

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

4/5
There isn't much from the college and training side of things in the programme. When you do go for training, you're only there for a few days every couple of weeks. But it's good to have the opportunity to explore and experiment without worrying about the car or panel you're working with. Gives you a good chance to learn, but it's quick.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
Gives you a great opportunity to just do it and learn from your mistakes without interrupting work flow which was my main concern. It's good to have the opportunity to ask as many questions as I need from good tutors

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

2/5
Not that I know of

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Gemini Accident Repair Centres to a friend?

Yes

Why?

It's changed my life for the better, starting this apprenticeship. My whole lifestyle changed, my personality, my mental health. It helped me surround myself with good people and maintain a stable salary to achieve my goals and aspirations at my age. Overall, it's helped me discover who I am and what I want to do with my life

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Gemini Accident Repair Centres?

If you're a woman and you're worried about working in the trade, Gemini will take care of you. It was a big worry for me, but I felt safe and welcomed so quickly when I started. Just be there and be bright, and if you feel hesitant to try something new - just give it a go. The worst that can happen is you fess up and you try it again. Learn by fessing up !
