Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I spend 4 days a week on the job training, focusing on providing stakeholders with data and insights to aid their commercial decision making, mainly through creating reports and dashboards and providing ad hoc analysis requests. Then I have 1 day a week as a dedicated apprenticeship day where I have the opportunity to build the foundations and develop my skills, as well as receive 1-2-1 support from my training provider where needed.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I really enjoy it, I find my technical and professional skills have enhanced massively since starting the apprenticeship, I love the balance of learning and on the job training, and I find VWG have been amazing and ensuring I am able to achieve my full potential and succeed both in a career and in my apprenticeship

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Absolutely- my skills in excel, power query, power bi, python etc. were all minimal prior to beginning my apprenticeship and now I am able to independently carry out tasks using these tools without assistance and produce high level results

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
Very well organised and structured, we have regular review meetings wit my line manager and my training provider to align my projects with my skills and learning, ensuring I get the most out of it and cover all of the relevant areas in my apprenticeship

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
Loads - As a company we have an early careers HR manager to support us throughout, as well as a supportive line manager and team, and we have been assigned a mentor in a different area of the business to support us and help as and when needed, with regular catchups with all. As well as support through the forum and mental health first aiders, physical therapist on site and plenty of other support available as needed

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
We have regular catch ups with line managers and training providers to ensure and adjust my learning to align with my projects, and that I cover all aspects relevant to my apprenticeship. As well as weekly meetings to update on progress, and to arrange for 1-2-1 support as required, always available for support on work tasks and apprenticeship tasks

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
Definitely, my apprenticeship has allowed me to learn the skills and tools required to be able to carry out my role more independently and has allowed me to develop even more to ensure my work produced is of a high standard

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

4/5
Yes - there are options to get involved in many employee network groups including inspire, parents & carers, we enable etc. as well as plenty of social events like team gatherings and xmas parties and the opportunity to get involved in sports such as monday night football etc.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Volkswagen Group UK to a friend?

Yes

Why?

The culture is unmatched, everyone is supportive and there to help you, they all want you to thrive and will openly give yo time to help. It’s clearly a company people like to work for as many people are there for over 25 years. The benefits are great (especially a lovely new car every 6 months). The office is great, there’s a nice lake to walk around, there’s plenty to get involved in and the industry as a whole is exciting especially with all the changes and electrification coming into play at the moment

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Volkswagen Group UK?

Do it! Be confident and show off your true self, everyone is super friendly and it’s a great place to work
