I am a Trainee Quantity Surveyor supporting the commercial and financial management of construction projects. My day-to-day role involves assisting with cost monitoring, valuations, and maintaining project documentation. I work closely with the commercial and site teams to ensure accurate reporting of progress and costs. This includes supporting subcontractor management, reviewing applications for payment, and helping track changes to the project. I also contribute to general project coordination and communication between stakeholders. The role provides a balance of office-based and site-based experience, helping me develop an understanding of cost control, contracts, and project delivery.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme to a strong extent, as it provides a balance of practical experience and structured learning. Being involved in real projects builds confidence and understanding. While it can be challenging at times, this pushes development and makes the experience more rewarding overall.
