Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Currently as a first year masters apprenticeship my role involves working on tasks to develop my coding skills that are relevant to the wider jobs role in languages such as python and R, the day begins with a daily standup meeting with the team where we discuss what jobs need to be done as well as what we are all currently working on and any help needed
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy it a lot, however, there is a lot to learn and managing both uni and the job can be hard at times

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I have gained a deeper understanding of what it means to be a bioinformatician as well as a greater understanding of the skills needed to be one. Specifically, i have gained a better and more grounded scientific understanding of the applications of biological tools i learnt in my undergraduate degree, for example next generation sequencing and how its used.
