Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Completing everyday activities in branch such as enquiry management, window displays, social media and bookings while learning on the job. working within a fast paced sales environment, gain travel product knowledge and develop confidence and flair which will enable you to meet customer’s needs.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It is great to be able to work within branch and gain the experience needed to become a successful travel consultant while doing training and learning at the same time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My customer service has improved massively since starting as my confidence has increased. My ability to sell a holiday has improved since starting my apprenticeship which is benefiting me in my job role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very organised. I knew exactly when my training days were and what evidence I needed to provide each month and for my final assessment. It was a good balance of training days to branch days.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received a good amount of support from my employer when I needed. Whenever I needed help or support with my work, I was able to get help and advise.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Whenever I needed help or unsure what I needed to do, She would give me as much information as possible. If i had a question it was answered straight away. We had extra training days if we needed.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It provided me with all the knowledge I would need such as different suppliers and destination knowledge. It helped me to know how to sell confidently which has improved my confidence and sales.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are lots of supplier events we can attend which helps us stay on top of new incentives or hotels.

Would you recommend Hays Travel to a friend?

Yes

Why?

It is a great way to get into the travel industry if you don't previously have the experience. You have support throughout and you are never 'thrown in at the deep end'. You are provided with all the training you would need to become successful.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hays Travel?

Always be yourself and be confident within the apprenticeship. Any opportunities, take them as its a great way to improve your knowledge and your confidence within the role. Don't worry if you don't know much about the travel industry as you will gain all the knowledge through the apprenticeship.
