Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
I respond to any malfunctions that occur within the Logistics department. I also investigate any data discrepancies between the multiple systems used to trace the movement of parts and components.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I enjoy the program as I have been able to spend time in each different department related to Logistics. This has enabled me to gain a range of knowledge across the departments to fully understand how each sector link together.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

3/5
I have learnt how to prioritise tasks depending on the current business requirements. An example of this is to identify certain malfunctions and prioritise ones that are going to have more affect on the performance of the production line if it is not running at full capacity.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

3/5
We are provided a plan for the duration of our apprenticeship which details each placement that we will complete, as well as their individual durations.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

2/5
Support is there if needed for both the academic and business side but can often be left to sort out any additional support by yourself.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

1/5
The college in the first 2 years is quite poor at James Watt College as there seems to be a lack in qualified staff to teach the necessary course needed. BCU for the remining 2 years is an improvement.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

3/5
As a logistics apprentice, my manufacturing engineering degree has little correlation to my job role as a lot of the degree focuses on mechanical principles that would mainly be used in a maintenance role. The degree has also highlighted a lot of theoretical principles that are taught are not necessarily relevant to actual real world scenarios within a company.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

2/5
There is a weekly football game that was set up by previous apprentices.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?

Yes

Why?

This apprenticeship is one of the highest paid across the country. It also allows you to gain real world experience working within a factory whilst being able to earn a degree with no debt.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?

Be enthusiastic in your interviews to really stand out from the rest and talk about something that you have made or a project you may have been part where a product has been made ( i.e. building a solar powered car). Also do your research into the company to show passion for what they do.
