Summer Vacation Scheme Student Review

On a day to day basis, I was required to work alongside my team to evaluate a proprietary tax platform being developed for clients. I was tasked with exploring the platform and creating training materials for it.
During my role I had to speak to people from other teams to see how they were using the platform and any suggestions they had and feed this back to the UI/UX team within Ventures.
I was responsible for the coherent flow and informativeness of training materials as well as for delivering the training materials to other employees.

Throughout my placement, my people leader encouraged me to learn about other teams within the firm as well as other service lines. I spoke to various teams including the Data & AI team which I found particularly interesting. Here, speaking to the AD, I came to know of potential roles availible within them, and found them a perfect fit for my skillset.
Furthermore, centrally organised talks with various teams in Ventures, gave me a flavout for the work that is done accross Ventures as well as the role they play.

Throughout my placement I was challenged with using and improving my creative skills as the training materials had to be succinct and visually pleasing. This helped devlop my Microsoft Office skills as this was the main platform that I had used to do this.
Also, by reaching out to various teams across the firm, I developed my networking skills and gained an appreciation for the importance that it plays in my role as a Grad.
I further developed by public speaking skills during the training session I ran in which I delivered to a group of 20 people.

The culture within Deloitte is very inclusive and especially within Ventures highly emphasizes the importance of learning and personal development. We as interns were told not to work past our designated hours, and that we should speak with our people leaders if we found that the work was too taxing. The culture within Deloitte places great emphasis of mental and physical wellbeing. Weekly 'mindset' sessions and meditation sessions served as good mental breaks from work. Also, all senior leadership I encountered were incredibly happy and willing to answer any questions, or to have a quick chat.

I thoroughly enjoyed my insight. Speaking to other interns as well as attending social events after work, I was given a taste of the working culture of Deloitte. The work given was also meaningful and it was clear that we were not merely an afterthought within the team. My team members were incredibly thoughtful and often checked in on how I was doing. All in all, I felt as I was a valued member of the firm.
