Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
I provide impartial careers guidance, helping young people explore suitable options in education, training, apprenticeships, employment or volunteering. I support them to set realistic goals, develop action plans, and build employability skills such as CV writing, applications and interview preparation, encouraging them to take manageable steps forward.
Alongside this direct work, I liaise with training providers, employers and partner services to secure opportunities and support. I track progress, maintain accurate records, manage safeguarding responsibilities and regularly review plans, persistently encouraging and re‑engaging young people to help them move towards positive, sustained outcomes.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
What I particularly enjoy is that the role is a never‑ending learning journey. Every young person presents a new perspective, challenge or opportunity to reflect and adapt my approach. The Level 6 programme actively encourages this reflective practice, helping me to continually develop my skills, broaden my knowledge of the careers landscape and grow as a practitioner. This ongoing learning keeps the work engaging and confirms that this is the right career pathway for me.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
However, these challenges have now been resolved, and having the clear structure, guidance and pacing of the apprenticeship has helped me to regain balance. This has allowed me to fully re‑engage with the programme and continue my learning in a focused and supported way.
