Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Commissioning Officer working in Adult Services Commissioning - many projects to support operations teams with securing care and support at home for customers and appropriate care home placements at local government funded band rates. Including engaging with stakeholders in and outside of the council.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Really informative and appreciative that this is funded by West Sussex County Council as well as fully supported by my manager and fellow colleagues.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Absolutely - I have been able to place where my current tasks fall within in Project Management and expand on them as well as understanding further the 'how's' and 'whys ' of certain parts of my job!

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Extremely well structured - It took me a while to get in to the swing of things but now its all a matter of routine
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Huge amount - I especially appreciate being able to block out a day week for specifically working on apprenticeship stuff. It didn't work with me doing 'ad hoc' hours. I am on do not disturb for six hours and this is respected.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My skills tutor will reply to any questions / queries in a timely manner and is always very organised ensuring that reviews / catch ups are all in the calendar well in advance.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Yes absolutely - and its made me more confident to speak up with ideas
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am part of the Womens Network at work - there have been some great speakers, very motivating!

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to West Sussex County Council?
Sometimes the job descriptions can sound very complex as often if you haven't worked for a local authority before they van be quite specific, and may not sound at all relatable. But give the contact a call and discuss the role - so many skills will be transferable
