Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
My day‑to‑day role supports protecting Vertu Motors’ systems, data, and colleagues from cyber security threats, while helping the business respond to incidents, reduce risk, and improve its security posture.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

3/5
My apprenticeship programme is delivered through QA Apprenticeships and is completed entirely online. While this approach works for some learners, I have found that it does not suit my preferred learning style. The programme includes one week of live online lessons for each subject, delivered for approximately six hours per day. I find this format quite overwhelming, particularly when all teaching is conducted online over such a long period.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Through my apprenticeship, I have developed practical skills in cyber threat intelligence, threat hunting, SIEM alert creation, incident response, risk‑based analysis, compliance with security standards, and clear technical communication within a live SOC environment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5
The programme was organised well; however, it includes an optional Blue Team Level 1 course where the recommended four‑month completion timeframe is reduced to two months, despite the exam itself being optional.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
My manager is very supportive and gives me all the support I need is provided.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

4/5
The support is available; however, I feel that at times it is only provided once you are visibly struggling, rather than being more proactive.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
My Level 4 apprenticeship supports my role by strengthening my hands‑on skills in threat detection, incident response, risk‑based decision‑making, compliance, and professional communication, directly improving how I operate day‑to‑day as a Junior IT Security Analyst.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

3/5
